Catch the WAVE – Your Opinion Needed for Future Planning!

As recipients of the Healthy Communities Partnership (HCP) grant from the Initiative Foundation, a committee of Wahkon and Isle Harbor Township citizens have been organized to help develop future plans for our community.

The committee is known as Wahkon Area Vision Effusion (WAVE). In 2006 area citizens were invited to have lunch and convey their desires and concerns. From that session, WAVE dedicated time, energy and funds towards hosting the Centennial Celebration in 2007 and building a fishing pier in 2008 located in the Wahkon City Park.

In 2009 area citizens were once again invited to have lunch and convey their desires and concerns. From that session, WAVE is dedicating time, energy and funds towards putting together a Wahkon welcome packet full of valuable information for new residents, a community newsletter to help keep people informed, a recycling site and a city water study.
