Relay for Life 7-28 in Isle

American Cancer Society Relay for Life 7/28/17

The Wahkon City Council unanimously approved a $1000 donation from the Charitable Gambling (C.G.) Fund to the American Cancer Society 1st Annual Northern Mille Lacs County Relay for Life. This is the first year it will be held in Isle. The C.G. Fund receives 10% of gambling profit from organizations within the city which can be used for park improvements, donations to 501c3 organizations, etc.

The theme is “Getting to know the Relay!” providing a wonderful opportunity to fight cancer and help save more lives. Teams made up of family members, friends, and/or co-workers will camp out at the Isle High School grounds on Fri. 7/28 from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m., taking turns walking a route when the sun goes down with beautiful luminaria lining the track, in honor or memory of those touched by cancer.

Please consider participating in this worthwhile event! Next meeting is Wed. 4/12 at 6:30 pm at Cedarwood Family Restaurant in Onamia. Committee members are needed for advertising, food, luminaria, grounds keepers, silent auction, etc., along with relay teams. Please consider participating and/or helping with this worthwhile event as it can’t be done without dedicated community volunteers!
